The Hidden Gem on a Housing Estate!
During the first Lockdown, in the Spring of 2020, I had this beautiful garden chapel built, with the intention of offering it to couples who wanted a small / socially distanced ceremony (after the full lockdown restrictions had been lifted and gatherings of 6 permitted of course). Back then, however, we had no idea that the pandemic and its effects would last so long. I am currently writing these words in the early Spring of 2021 and the third national Lockdown is still in place.
I imagine that, when the current lockdown comes to an end, there are still going to be big restrictions on ceremonies etc. Possibly another tier system too. I feel desperately sorry for couples who wanted to get married or have a civil partnership ceremony. I’ve had almost 20 either cancel or postpone over the last year, and even this year doesn’t look overly hopeful.
So, with all that in mind, I’m going to be offering small but beautiful ceremonies and blessings in my garden chapel (that also converts to a bar) - The Hidden Gem on a Housing Estate!
I’ve not worked out all the protocol yet, and we will obviously have to adhere to whatever rules are restrictions are in place re. social distancing and numbers etc. I'm imagining it will only be for six people for the rest of this year (after lockdown), but we'll see how things pan out.
For the ceremonies/services I'm thinking in terms of:
A tailor made ceremony that can reflect any religious/spiritual tradition or none.
Music.
A glass of bubbly to celebrate.
